The Beauty within the Storm

11 Mar

by Alford G. Harris

the sight of a rainbow
often follows,
pounding reigns,
where hurricanes travel
cultural sightlines,
aimed and arranged,
in plain view,
inside the urban plains,
where life itself is
deadly and deranged,
resources scarce,
where health is
taken for granted,
and we have
the wherewithal to
smile and kiss our babies,
to circumstance circumvent,
to never relent,
to reinvent their chances,
to prepare for
and embrace,
the sunshine of tomorrow
